Your First Time Getting Injectables in London
Deciding to get injectables for the first time is a bigger decision than most people let on, and it comes with a lot of questions. Will it hurt? Will I look like myself? What if I change my mind? At Injectual, we've thought carefully about every part of the first-timer experience — and this guide walks you through exactly what happens, from the moment you book to the days after your treatment.
Starting with a consultation
If you're new to injectables, we recommend starting with a complimentary consultation before committing to treatment. It's a no-obligation conversation with one of our practitioners — a chance to talk through what you want to achieve, understand your options, and ask every question you have without any pressure to proceed. Many clients who book a first treatment appointment choose to keep it as a consultation once they arrive. That's completely fine. Nothing happens until you're ready.
You can book online at injectual.com or by phone.
Before your appointment
Once you're booked, we'll send you a short medical history questionnaire and a pre-appointment checklist. These help us make sure your treatment is clinically appropriate and personalised to you before you've stepped through the door.
If you have an event coming up — a wedding, a holiday, an important shoot — plan further ahead than you think you need to. Mild swelling, redness or bruising can occur even when everything goes perfectly, and first-time results always benefit from breathing room.
When you arrive
You'll be welcomed at reception and invited to relax in our waiting room with a complimentary drink. The clinic is designed to feel calm and discreet. Appointments are never rushed, and you won't feel like you're being moved through a process.
Your appointment
We begin by taking a few photos for your patient record. These help us track your results over time and ensure every future visit builds on the last in a way that's intentional and consistent.
Then comes your consultation. Not a quick briefing — a proper conversation about what you want to achieve, what treatments would suit you, what realistic results look like, and what recovery involves. Anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, and other injectable treatments all carry different considerations, and we make sure you understand yours fully before anything happens.
When you do decide to go ahead, comfort is our priority. We offer numbing cream and nitrous oxide — both optional, both available if you want them. The procedure itself is typically quick; most clients settle in, put something on the in-room screen, and find the experience far less daunting than they'd expected.
After your treatment
Once we're done, we'll take a final set of photos, then walk you through everything you need to know about the next 24 to 48 hours — what's normal, what to watch for, and when to contact us.
You'll then spend time in our dedicated post-treatment recovery room, where you can take as long as you need. Every client receives a complimentary LED light therapy session — clinically recognised for reducing post-treatment redness, swelling and bruising, and genuinely rare to have access to immediately after an injectable procedure. It's also, simply, a calm way to decompress before heading back out.
Your aftercare instructions will be explained in clinic and sent to you by email so you have them to hand at home.
Ongoing support after you leave
Our care doesn't end when you walk out. If you have questions in the days following your appointment — about something you've noticed, your aftercare routine, or what you might want to do next — you can reach us by phone, email or WhatsApp. We'd always rather you contact us than sit at home wondering.

Botox/anti-wrinkle treatment works by relaxing the muscle in the treated area, resulting in smooth-wrinkle free skin. It is ideal for treating fine lines and wrinkles in the skin. Dermal fillers are injected into the facial skin layer to plump and restore volume in the treated area. Filler on average lasts longer than anti-wrinkle injection injections.
This will depend on a lot of factors, like genetics, exercise, diet and most importantly which treatment you receive. Read how often each treatment needs to be topped up HERE.
While injectables have a slight level of discomfort, it’s no worse than getting a quick prick. Our state-of-the-art pain management techniques, like numbing cream and nitrous oxide, will make it as comfortable as injectables can be.
Our expert practitioners will go through a consultation with you prior to your treatment to assess your concerns and desired final result. They have all been highly trained to help you best understand what exact procedures will give you the most “you” look. Our top-of-the-line diagnostic tools will also be used to best asses your individual treatments. All our treatments are tailored to each customer because at INJECTUAL, we know that it’s not one-size-fits-all solution.
Yes, you absolutely can get more than one treatment in a session, providing your practitioner has advised that it is safe to do so. NOTE: sometimes your desired aesthetic will take several visits to INJECTUAL to be achieved.
While we are confident you will love your results, yes, injectables are reversible. Every treatment does come with some risks attached, which your practitioners will and should run you through. Dermal filler can get dissolved, with a substance called hyaluronidase, so it is reversible. Botulinum toxin cannot get dissolved but does wear off after 3-6 months.
Yes, at Injectual you must be over 21 to receive injectable treatments.
Before your treatment, please avoid alcohol for 24h before the procedure, as this can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising. Blood-thinners, like Ibuprofen, ginseng and Omega 3, should also be avoided. Make sure you DO have food and drink liquid on the day of your procedure to avoid light headedness.
You can get a facial directly before your treatment, although any procedures like laser or micro-needling should be avoided for at least a week before to ensure the skin is not sensitive. After your treatment, wait at least a week before any facials.
You can get injectables 3 weeks before or after you’ve received a Covid vaccination.

Try your best to not touch the treated area for 3 hours, avoid heavy lifting and intense physical exercise for at least 24 hours. Avoid excessive amounts of alcohol and sodium as this could lead to swelling. If you do experience some minor swelling, you can apply a cold compress for 15 minutes every hour. Paracetamol can help with any pain management. Be sure to sleep face up if you had a facial procedure. If you require any more assistance or help after your procedure, our expertly trained staff is always on hand to answer your questions and offer medical advice.
It is not advised to get fillers while pregnant or breastfeeding.
