Your Recovery After UltraClear™
UltraClear™ is an advanced cold-fiber laser treatment designed to improve skin quality, texture, tone, pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, laxity, acne scarring, and overall skin rejuvenation. Depending on the intensity of your treatment and the area treated, recovery can vary from mild redness and dryness to several days of peeling, swelling, and skin renewal.
This guide covers aftercare for:
• 3D MIRACL™ UltraClear™
• Advanced UltraClear™ resurfacing
• Surgical Coring
• UltraClear™ Blepharoplasty
• UltraClear™ Brow Lift
• UltraClear™ Body Treatments
Following the correct aftercare is essential for achieving the best possible results while minimizing irritation, complications, prolonged redness, and post-inflammatory pigmentation.
What Is Normal After UltraClear™?
Following treatment, the skin begins a controlled healing response which stimulates collagen production and tissue remodeling.
During this period, it is completely normal to experience:
• Redness
• Warmth
• Swelling
• Tightness
• Dryness
• Flaking and peeling
• Bronzing or darkening of the skin
• Sensitivity
• Mild itching during healing
• Temporary rough texture
• Mild pinpoint crusting
• Temporary oozing or weeping after more advanced settings
More aggressive treatments such as Surgical Coring and advanced resurfacing settings typically involve more downtime and a longer healing process.
General Aftercare Instructions
For the first few days following UltraClear™ treatment, the skin enters a sensitive healing phase and should be cared for gently to support optimal recovery, reduce irritation, and minimise the risk of complications such as prolonged redness or post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Keeping the skin clean, hydrated, and protected is essential during this time. Patients should sleep with their head elevated for the first few nights, use clean towels and change pillowcases daily, and ensure hands are thoroughly washed before any contact with the treated area. The skin should be left undisturbed as much as possible, with good hydration and adequate water intake encouraged. Direct sun exposure should be avoided, and daily SPF should be used once approved by your practitioner.
During early healing, it is important to avoid anything that may disrupt the skin barrier. This includes picking or peeling, exfoliating, or using active skincare ingredients such as retinoids and acids (including AHAs and BHAs) unless specifically advised. Heavy exercise, excessive heat, saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, sunbeds, and waxing of the treated area should also be avoided until the skin has fully recovered. Smoking may also slow the healing process and is best avoided where possible.
This careful approach helps support healthy skin regeneration and ensures the best possible treatment results.
Important Information About Healing After Advanced Laser Treatments
After stronger resurfacing treatments, including advanced UltraClear™ settings and Surgical Coring, the skin barrier is temporarily compromised.
During the first few days, the skin can ooze or weep slightly as part of the healing process. Keeping the skin clean during this phase is extremely important
We strongly recommend using Clinisept+® exactly as instructed to help reduce bacteria on the skin and support safe healing. Patients should also ensure they sleep on a fresh pillowcase every night for the first few days after treatment.
Avoid touching the treated skin unnecessarily and ensure all products are applied with clean hands.
Managing Discomfort After Treatment
Some patients may experience temporary discomfort, heat, swelling, tightness, or tenderness after treatment, particularly following stronger resurfacing procedures.
If needed, patients may consider taking:
• Paracetamol
• Ibuprofen
However, patients should always follow the recommended dosage instructions and speak with their GP, pharmacist, or medical professional before taking medication if they have any concerns, medical conditions, allergies, or contraindications.
If discomfort becomes severe or progressively worsens, please contact the clinic.
3D MIRACL™ Aftercare
All patients undergoing 3D MIRACL™ receive an aftercare package included within the treatment price.
Included in your package:
• Aquaphor® Healing Ointment
We may also recommend purchasing:
• SkinCeuticals Epidermal Repair
• Calecim® Professional
• Medical-grade SPF
In clinic, we commonly recommend either SkinCeuticals SPF or Mesoestetic® SPF depending on your skin type and treatment plan.
These products help support skin barrier recovery, hydration, collagen stimulation, redness reduction, and protection against pigmentation during healing.
How to Use Aquaphor®
Aquaphor® is used during the initial healing phase to protect the skin barrier and prevent excessive dryness.
Instructions for use:
• Apply a thin layer regularly throughout the day
• Reapply whenever the skin feels dry or tight
• Do not allow the skin to become excessively dry during early healing
• Continue use as instructed by your practitioner
3D MIRACL
™ Healing Timeline
Day of Treatment
You may experience redness, heat, swelling, and tightness similar to moderate sunburn.
Use cool compresses intermittently if needed and apply Aquaphor® regularly. Sleep elevated and avoid touching the skin unnecessarily.
Avoid exercise, alcohol, makeup, and excessive heat exposure.
Days 1 to 3
Redness and swelling are often most noticeable during this period. The skin may begin to feel rough, tight, and dry. Bronzing or darkening of the skin may develop.
Continue applying Aquaphor® frequently and keep the skin continuously moisturized.
Patients should avoid strenuous activity and continue sleeping on a clean pillowcase nightly.
Days 3 to 5
Flaking and peeling usually begin during this phase. The skin may appear dry and textured.
Do not pick or remove peeling skin manually.
If advised by your practitioner, Epidermal Repair may be introduced during this stage to support barrier recovery.
Days 5 to 7
Most peeling begins to resolve and fresh pink skin becomes visible underneath. Mild redness may still remain.
SPF can usually be introduced once the skin is fully intact and approved by your practitioner.
Weeks 2 to 6
Collagen remodeling continues during this phase and the skin gradually becomes smoother, brighter, firmer, and more even in texture and tone.
Redness continues to fade over the following weeks.
Advanced UltraClear™ Resurfacing Aftercare
Patients undergoing more advanced resurfacing settings receive an aftercare package including:
• Clinisept+®
• Aquaphor®
These products are particularly important during the early healing phase.
How to Use Clinisept+®
Clinisept+® is an antimicrobial cleansing solution that helps support safe healing after laser treatments.
Instructions for use:
• Apply using clean gauze or cotton pads
• Use two to four times daily unless otherwise instructed
• Allow the product to air dry naturally
• Do not rinse off
• Apply before ointments or moisturizers
Clinisept+® is especially important during the first few days when the skin may ooze or weep after stronger treatments.
Surgical Coring Aftercare
Patients undergoing UltraClear™ Surgical Coring receive a comprehensive aftercare package including:
• Clinisept+®
• Aquaphor®
• SkinCeuticals Epidermal Repair
• SPF
We typically recommend either SkinCeuticals SPF or Mesoestetic® SPF depending on the patient’s skin type and treatment plan.
Surgical Coring Recovery Timeline
Days 1 to 3
Swelling, redness, tightness, and mild crusting are common during this stage. Small treatment points may appear visible temporarily.
The skin may ooze slightly during the initial healing phase.
Use Clinisept+® regularly and keep the skin continuously moisturized with Aquaphor®.
Days 3 to 7
Tiny crusts begin to shed naturally and the skin starts transitioning into the regenerative phase.
Epidermal Repair may be introduced during this stage if advised by your practitioner.
Continue strict sun protection and avoid picking or rubbing the skin.
Weeks 2 to 8
Collagen contraction and remodeling continue progressively over the following weeks.
Patients often notice gradual improvements in skin tightness, texture, firmness, and overall rejuvenation.
UltraClear™ Blepharoplasty Aftercare
Following UltraClear™ eye area treatments, it is normal to experience temporary swelling, redness, tightness, dryness, and sensitivity as part of the natural healing process around the delicate eye area.
To support optimal recovery, patients are advised to sleep with the head elevated and avoid rubbing or touching the treated area. Contact lenses and eye makeup should be avoided until your practitioner confirms it is safe to resume, and cool compresses may be used if recommended to help ease discomfort. Reducing screen time can also help if the eyes feel strained or irritated during the early healing phase.
Healing in the eye area is generally quick, with visible improvement over the first few weeks as swelling settles and the skin continues to regenerate.
Healing in the eye area usually progresses quickly, although mild pinkness can persist for several weeks.
UltraClear™ Brow Lift Aftercare
Following UltraClear™ Brow Lift treatments, patients may experience mild swelling, forehead tightness, dryness, or flaking.
Patients should avoid:
• Aggressive forehead massage
• Excessive heat exposure
• Intense workouts during early healing
• Additional injectable treatments until advised
Skin tightening and collagen remodeling continue improving gradually over the following weeks.
UltraClear™ Body Treatment Aftercare
Body areas treated with UltraClear™ laser resurfacing typically require a slightly longer healing period compared to facial treatments due to thicker skin and reduced circulation.
Common treatment areas include the neck, chest, abdomen, arms, hands, knees, thighs, as well as stretch marks and surgical scars.
During the healing phase, it is important to minimise friction and support skin recovery by wearing loose, breathable clothing and maintaining consistent moisturisation to help protect the skin barrier.
Patients should avoid strenuous exercise during the initial recovery period, as well as direct sun exposure and tanning, both of which can increase the risk of irritation and post-inflammatory pigmentation.
SPF protection after UltraClear™ body treatment is essential, particularly for any areas exposed to daylight. Following laser resurfacing, the skin is more vulnerable to UV damage, making daily sun protection a key part of safe healing and long-term results.
Medical-grade sunscreens such as SkinCeuticals SPF and Mesoestetic® SPF are commonly recommended, with your practitioner advising on the most appropriate formulation for your skin type and treatment.
Once approved, SPF should be applied daily (including indoors), reapplied regularly when outdoors, and combined with additional sun protection such as covering clothing and avoiding direct sun exposure where possible.
Long-Term Results After UltraClear™
Collagen remodelling continues for several months following UltraClear™ laser skin resurfacing, making it a key part of the skin healing and regeneration process after treatment. This gradual renewal is what drives long-term improvements in overall skin quality and appearance.
Patients typically notice progressive improvements in skin texture, firmness, and tone, along with a visible reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scarring. Pore size may appear more refined, while the skin becomes increasingly smooth, tight, and radiant with a brighter, more even complexion.
Results from UltraClear™ continue to develop over time, with optimal outcomes usually visible several months after treatment as collagen production increases and the skin continues to remodel beneath the surface.
As with all advanced aesthetic and laser treatments, results vary depending on treatment intensity, skin type, lifestyle, and medical history. Following your personalised UltraClear™ aftercare instructions is essential to support safe healing and achieve the best possible long-term results.
